Food is fuel. It gives us energy and keeps us running day in and day out. It is of the utmost importance for our physical well-being and just as vital for our often overlooked mental health as well. 2. Fish!

3. Broccoli!
This popular vegetable deserves all the hype that parents have been putting on it for years. Kids everywhere and all humans in general should be finishing their broccoli. This super green is loaded with vitamin K, a huge player in the battle against dementia.

4. Nuts!
Walnuts, peanuts, and almonds are leading the way of the nut pack for mental well-being. Walnuts are another great source of omega-3s, very rich in DHA. Peanuts are high in niacin, an organic compound important to a healthy diet. Niacin deficiencies correlate to development of Alzheimer’s. Last but certainly not least almonds are chalk full of vitamin E, which is has been widely linked to cognitive enhancement.

5. Eggs!
Although eggs often get a bad rap for being high in cholesterol, they are also high in a very beneficial nutrient chemical called choline. The brain is largely composed of acetylcholine, a chemical messenger of memories, which is largely composed of choline. In fact, many Alzheimer’s drugs work to mimic acetylcholine in order to improve patients’ memories.

This short list of powerful brain foods has quite the variety so don’t be afraid to mix them -into your daily intake! Get your mental well-being on track and healthy for the future!
